Find & clear hidden settings
A "broken" unit is often just waiting on a delay, softened by sleep mode, or ignoring your buttons because it's locked. Work through each item in order for your control style.
Panel with a screen showing temperature, clock digits, or mode letters.
A delay or schedule can postpone start-up or shut-off for hours โ the unit looks broken while it's simply waiting.
After clearing: Power the unit off for 10 seconds, then back on and re-select your mode.
Symbols cheat sheet
What those little icons on the panel, display, or remote actually mean.
Clock icon / hours number
A delay timer is active โ the unit will switch itself on or off later.
Moon
Sleep mode โ cooling is softened and the target temperature drifts warmer.
Padlock
Control lock โ buttons are ignored until you unlock (usually hold 3โ5 seconds).
Droplet
Dehumidify / dry mode โ runs the fan to dry the air without much cooling.
Arrows in a circle
Auto mode โ the unit picks fan speed itself and can feel inconsistent.
Counting-down numbers
Timer actively counting โ expect the unit to shut off (or start) when it hits zero.
Letter + number (E1, F2โฆ)
Fault code โ check the exact model's manual; the wizards can still narrow it down.
Flash / filter icon
Filter or service reminder โ usually a cleaning interval, not a failure.
Settings cleared and still broken? Then it really is a hardware or power problem โ run the matching wizard before touching anything, and always verify power is off before opening any unit.
