Turn the system OFF (fan ON) to thaw, and check — is the air filter clean?
Running the blower alone melts the ice in 1–3 hours. Keep the compressor OFF while iced — running on ice can slug and kill the compressor.
Always de-energize the circuit and verify it's dead with a tester before opening any device. When in doubt, call a licensed electrician.
