Any lights, display, or beep when you press buttons?
Total darkness is a power problem; a live panel that refuses to start is usually a lock, lid/door switch, or a hidden control lock.
Always de-energize the circuit and verify it's dead with a tester before opening any device. When in doubt, call a licensed electrician.
